Crazy Story
One crazy thing that happened with the band was while we were playing music in the streets of Nice. You must know sometimes playing in the street becomes a hypnotic thing, you play hours and hours to make some cash for the hotel room, some food and all the other things a vagabond essentially needs.
However it was one of these days where the money wasn’t right and we had a hard time to find a right spot to do a nice show.
Late in the night it was about 2AM we decided to hit it one last time.
We set up at a nice spot in a little street and started to play.
After a short period of time we had a nice crowd and it seemed that the hard time we had would come to an end. People where cheering, there was a lot of nightlife going on and coins started to jump in my guitar case.
Suddenly the music stopped!
What happened was a guy in the 3rd floor decided to finish the show for us traditionally.A bucket of water dropped on us! Luckily no equipment was damaged and no one was injured I think the guy wanted to do us a favor by giving us a refreshing experience.
Talk about playing with the band.
playing with these two guys is really a blessing in many ways
important of course is that the musical direction in which all of us want to go matches which it does quite well
a nother point what i really like is that Jakob and herwig a really openmindet for critics which i think is very important for the process of writing
we all three met per accident, we started as guitar duo and soon herwig bumped into us on the streets of Vienna and decided to join in.
of course there are ups and downs with the band but over all this is the best formation i have ever played in.
Why do you play music?
i play music because i think its a holy thing
able to heal and intensify any feeling i have
for me its like a language which is able to picture every fragment of this world and more
it has the power to connect the individual awareness with the eternal for a second
and over all i enjoy the hell out of it 🙂
What is special about your instrument?
i developed a deep love for classical or Spanish guitar
you can say everything which has nylon strings attached to it.
it is the dynamic range that this instrument is able to cover which i love so much.
Nylon strings produce a very fragile tone, press the string to hard and the tone will be a nuance to high
so its not only important that you find the right tone on the fretboard, the tone produced relates also on how hard you press with your left hand
and what shape of the nail on your fingers are.
I think with steel strings its similar besides the importance of the nail of your fingers.
The shape of the nail is actually so important that it took me a few years to find the right one for me.
the life period of nylon strings is very short, when i tour a lot i change them almost every two weeks to get the sound i like.
so if i should specify my instrument i would say it produces a very fragile and gentle tone and to produce it you have to dive deep into a microcosm which is only
accessible by high awareness.
I feel that this microcosm i an endless sphere and therefore its an entire Universe it self which waits there in silence to be discovered
How did you begin playing? Did you have any training?
i started very late to play my instrument
it was at the age of 18 and first it was autodidact.
i never had the intent to play music my self until that age
and it was more a strange accident than anything else that brought me there.
my first guitar was a steel string which my girlfriend bought me for birthday and i had no idea why she did that.
how ever this birthday present combined with some emotional problems which also where delivered by her made me
explore music in a certain way for the first time.
Thank you Bia.!!! ;-D
later i took private lessons to get some theoretical knowledge and new input
i think you always need musical teachers around you
as i said before it is an endless sphere and therefore there is endless to learn.
Who are your biggest influences? What kind of music do listen to?
biggest influence is the music i catch around me, its the music that surrounds me that influences me most
then people who are important to me like family friends all the loved ones because they affect my emotions and
when you play that’s what counts.
i almost listen to every genre and love to get new impressions.
Classical music is very important for me, its music that is not really danceable but it find his way directly in to your heart if you
are open to it. Recently i discovered the compositions of ARVO PÄRT. „Lamentate“
great masters i admire are : Andres segovia, paco de lucia, Julian bream, Michael hedges, Paco pena
personal stories about music and playing
i had many ideas how it would be if i am a professional musician
but they where all wrong
traveling is not always fun and there is a lot more to it than just playing your tunes.
relationships don’t get easier.
i think music is the best i have to offer to society and for me it is a holy thing
honest, pure and gracious.
over all today i can say “ its hard bread but it is sweat“
i love to find myself in new situations and meet new people
therefore its the best job you could find.
